The sessions will help babies and toddlers communicate through signs.

Tiny Talk Baby Signature Classes allow parents to learn how to communicate with their baby before they can speak.

Kimberley Gavuzzi, who set up the classes, said she left her teaching role to pursue the idea.

She said: “By profession, I am an early childhood teacher. However, I left the position to devote all my time and energy to the development of children’s speech and language.

“Children’s speech and communication skills are so important.

“As a teacher, I have seen so many children start school with little or no speech.

“My passion over my six years of teaching has been to work with and offer support to these children to help them progress.

“When you progress, even a small step, the moment is magical.

“That’s why I decided to step away from teaching and just focus on helping kids communicate their needs from an early age.”

Classes are suitable for babies and toddlers and focus on introducing British Sign Language signs through songs and games.

They also encourage babies to be able to communicate before they can speak using signs.

Kimberley, who is a new mum herself, added: ‘There are currently only a few baby classes in NG16 and I think only one other offers baby signs as part of their class.

“As a mum to a 10 month old in the NG16 community, I’m always looking for classes to take her to.

“I think introducing a new class in this area will benefit other families who are in the same boat.”
