With racism and unemployment a daily reality, and a strong desire to express himself by clashing with his father’s ideals for him, it was Bruce Springsteen’s music that ultimately changed the course of Javed’s life. With racial tensions abounding at the time, she also brings her ideals of equality and unity, and eagerly learned new dance moves, to the show, using her newfound fame as a platform. The dancing is a treat, the music an explosion and the hair huge.

The move is criticized by other family members, but being together helps the four girls heal their inner wounds. A touching film.
