The Mesa Public Library, in conjunction with Family Strengths Network and the UNM Los Alamos Adult Learning Center (UNM-LA), will be hosting a series of free Conversational English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for the public. Textbooks and all course materials will also be provided free of charge. Classes will be held every Wednesday between February 2 and May 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. downstairs in the Mesa Public Library area. Enrollments are welcome and participation in the full suite of course offerings is not required.

Mature students of all levels will improve their English speaking, writing, reading, listening and speaking skills in a fun and interactive environment. Support will be provided for adult ESL learners of all levels, and lessons may include board games, book club and other language practice activities. UNM-LA instructor Claudia Ress will help students practice English in real-life scenarios, with an emphasis on practical use and communication. Students will also be encouraged to take advantage of UNM-LA’s computer lab and ESL tutors outside of class, also at no cost.
